Why should I pay to start a website when I can do it for free?
Website Builders are how most websites are started nowadays, and it is very nice to be able to do this for free. Of course, the paid service from the market leaders is going to be very good, much better than the free option, but how big is that difference? And is it worth forking out for the privilege?
Well, it depends on how serious you are about the website, and what you expect your traffic to be like.
Businesses and highly trafficked websites should definitely pay for the upgraded service, as it means, in most cases, no placed ads on the webpage, access to all the professional features, and your own custom domain. All of these are vital for an online store and similar, as this makes all the difference from a visitors point of view when whether a website is legitimate and professional.
It really isn’t worth paying for the service if you are not very serious about the website. For example, if you are making the website for practice or testing, then there is no importance on the final product or how it appears to viewers, just usage of the process that matters.
So, in a nutshell, if you care about what it looks like to visitors, you should pay, if you don’t, there is no need.
